Media: Christiane Amanpour, a titan of the journalism industry and set to moderate ABC’s This Week,  will arrive in Washington in August. In the meantime, Amanpour will vacation in France. Her new gig has been surrounded with criticism.  First from ABC News employees who thought the batton should have passed from George Stephanopoulos to Jake Tapper. And then from those who questioned her domestic political knowledge.

Transport: WMATA has begun a search to find a permanent GM. Richard Sarles is serving in the interim. Executive search firm Heidrick & Struggles will look at candidates from the United States and around the world. Wonder if WMATA would hire a foreign candidate…

Hotel: The Marriott-operated Washington Renaissance hotel unveiled  a $5 million lobby redesign.
